Bert Catron Jr.


Bert Catron Jr., age 95, of Branson West, Missouri, formerly of Aurora, Missouri, passed away at 4:30 a.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017, at the Wedgewood Gardens Assisted Living Facility.  He was born June 13, 1921, in Fairview, Missouri, the son of Bert and Blanche (Hankins) Catron Sr. 

Bert grew up in Purdy, Missouri and was a 1939 graduate of Purdy High School and graduated from the University of Missouri with his Master’s degree in Agriculture Management.  Bert worked for the University of Missouri as an Extension Agent in Taney County for 20 years before becoming a District Agent over several counties based out of Buffalo, Missouri.  He was a member of the Lions Club, Rotary Club and the Southside Baptist Church. 

On February 20, 1942, he married Virginia May Oglesby in Aurora.  She preceded him in death on September 16, 2012.

Bert is survived by his two sons, Alan Catron and his wife, Grace, of Branson West and Larry Catron and his wife, Claire, of Cape Fair; three grandchildren, Cameron Catron, Mark Catron and Melissa Mika; six great-grandchildren, Megan, Abigail, Max, Morgan, Emily and Taylor.

His parents, Bert and Blanche, wife, Virginia, sister, Lorraine Catron, granddaughter, Kristin Patton, and great-grandson, Nathan Patton preceded him in death. 

A graveside service under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017, at the Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora.

Alan and Larry: So sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I have fond memories of both he and your mom as we were growing up. He lived a long and successful life
