Janet White Anderson


Janet White Anderson, age 83, of Springfield, Missouri, formerly of Aurora, Missouri, passed away at 3:08 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at the Cox South Hospital in Springfield.  She was born January 27, 1934, in Springfield the daughter of Charles Taylor and Lena (Rice) White.

Janet was a 1951 graduate of Aurora High School and attended Drury University in Springfield where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority.  She was a homemaker, a 70 year member of the First Presbyterian Church where she taught bible school for many years.  She was a room mother and very active with her children’s activities.

On January 30, 1955, she married Neal Fredric Anderson, in Aurora, Missouri.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Neal; daughter, Leesa Newbold and her husband, Dr. Steven Newbold of Springfield; son, Douglas Anderson and his wife, Amy, of Indian Rock Beach, Florida; granddaughter, Rebecca Metcalf and her husband, Craig, of Springfield; three great-grandchildren, Anderson, Mac and Charlie; one sister, Rebecca Meyer and her husband, Steve, of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Doug White and his wife, Lisa, of Edisto Island, South Carolina and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, Charles and Lena, granddaughter, Andrea Newbold and brother, Tom White, preceded her in death.

A graveside service, under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, in Aurora, will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at the Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 4 East College, Aurora, Missouri, 65605.
