Mary Freda O'Connell
Mary Freda O’Connell, age 96, of Aurora, Missouri, passed away at 4:30 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2017, at her home. She was born November 29, 1920, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, the daughter of the late Vernon and Velma (Fowble) Woods.
Mary was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and attended Business College in Joplin, Missouri. She lived in Kansas City and Independence, Missouri for 21 years where she work as an accountant until moving back to the Woods family farm in 1965. She also taught school for three years and was employed by the Federal Government during WWII as a buyer for military airplane engines. She was a member of the 20th Century Club and a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Aurora.
On February 11, 1945, she married Albert O’Connell in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on November 27, 1988.
She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her parents, Vernon and Velma, and her husband, Albert, preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017, at the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, in Aurora. Burial will follow at the Woodsland Cemetery northeast of Aurora. Visitation will be held from 10:00–11:00 a.m. prior to the service, in the funeral home chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Aurora, in care of the funeral home.
