Obituary

Mildred Elizabeth Pond, age 95, of Ozark, Missouri, formerly of Aurora, Missouri, went to her heavenly home at 3:20 a.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017, at the Nixa Nursing & Rehab.  She was born June 9, 1921, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Virgil C. and Emma Frances (Wise) DeWitt.  She was raised on a farm in Northwest Arkansas.

Mildred had a lifelong occupation as a secretary-bookkeeper retiring at the age of 88.  She was a member of the Selmore Baptist Church, in Ozark and past matron of the Eastern Star of Kimberling City Chapter #164.

On November 17, 1940, she married Leonard A. Pond, in Joplin, Missouri.  He preceded her in death on March 8, 1985.

She is survived by her daughter, Marion Matthews and her husband, Roland, of Ozark; four grandchildren, Jeff Tatum and his wife, Lisa, of Ozark, Steve Tatum, of Ozark, Kelly Usher of Reno, Nevada and Jill Caird and her husband, Jerimi, of Ozark; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; special friends, Bill and Barbra Welch and a host of many friends and family.

Her parents, Virgil and Emma and husband, Leonard, preceded her in death.

A funeral service under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at the Selmore Baptist Church in Ozark.  Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora.  Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 15, 2017, at the Selmore Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Selmore Baptist Church Youth Department in care of the funeral home.
